Get
Salon Customers From The Web Now

It really is true. If your
salon's not on the web, you are seriously missing out
on an absolutely VITAL source of new customers. But for most salon
owners, the whole idea of getting a website seems so complicated,
so time consuming, so expensive.

A little over a year
ago, we built a website for Toolkit member Karen Briffa of
Le Beau Day Spa in Perth, Western Australia. Go on, take a look,

Okay, first think
you'll notice is....it ain't pretty! No gorgeous
graphics, models, photos blah blah blah. BUT...it absolutely
works its little electronic backside off - a silent, unpaid
salesperson - for Karen's salon.
Here's what Karen says about her oh-so-simple, but
devastatingly-effective online 'super-salesman':
"We get at least 12 contact requests a month that either book
appointments or buy vouchers. The vouchers are between $90 to $360
each. Virtually every person who books or gets a voucher will rebook
and spend at least $100 a month, month on month. And these clients
are just from the automated contact
booking system, we have not measured the people who find
us on the web and just phone the our number, but for instance we
did get a call from the USA a few weeks ago who bought a voucher for
a relative out here. That's really exciting when it happens."
Do the
numbers yourself: in a full year, Karen is making
around $50,000 minimum off
her website...and not counting the people who look at the
website and phone her salon. It's only counting people who fill in
the email contact form on the website!
Just think for a moment, how many
thousands of dollars you've spent on newspaper advertising,
Yellow Pages, mailbox flyers, and on and on and on, and never
getting those kind of results....
So, how come WE
know how to build a killer website, and
so many so-called web designers haven't got a motherless clue???
Tell you a brief story. Three or
four years ago, I met a mild-mannered Englishman by the name of
George Slater. That's him on the right - nope, I agree with you,
looks more like an insurance salesman than a geeky,
propeller-head nerd! George was a subscriber to my marketing
newsletter, and in a phone conversation I told him I was hiring a
web designer to put up a website to promote it.
(Old Jewish proverb: If you want
to hear God laugh, tell him your plans.)
George cautioned me. "Greg,
unless you do it the right way, you're wasting your time and money."
Ho Ho Ho, I thought, I've hired a web designer, what more do I
need than that?
Well, a lot, as
it turns out. I hardly need mention that
after four or five months, my shiny, brand new website had made a
grand total of...

So, with tail between my
miserable, skinny legs, I went back to George. By then, I was
